Herschel FASTIR-500 12kW Far Infrared Quartz Heater
Not intended for “Comfort Heating” but for “Environment Control” (e.g. Drying) applications. The FAST IR heat system is a compact, robust system comprising quartz tungsten/halogen glass tube emitters in a highly polished aluminium case with steel reflection and rear-mounted axial flow fans. These fans eliminate convection from the rear of the unit and also maintain the effectiveness of the reflectors for better direction of the output. The external aluminium case is “touch-safe”.
Customised configurations are also available depending on requirements.
Tungsten/Halogen tubes emit Infrared primarily in the Medium to Short wave frequency. The Infrared is produced by a high temperature tungsten coil in a halogen gas, within a sealed quartz tube.
Infrared heating is a safe radiant form of heating (i.e. it does not propagate by conduction or convection), therefore allowing the emitter to be placed some distance away from the target heating environment without it warming the air in-between.
The Fast IR unit produces high intensity heat and is really designed for bringing large open spaces such as you would find in industrial units up to operating temperature quickly before then regulating the unit via a thermostat, timer or occupancy sensor.
As with all high intensity heaters, care must be taken to install and operate the unit correctly. The FAST-IR is designed for horizontal use only unless clearly configured for vertical operation. Care must be taken to ensure the heater cannot accidentally be touched during operation and that personnel working in the area do not have the high intensity elements within their normal line-of-sight as they work.
